Special Investigations
Responsibilities
The Special Investigation Unit is a specialized unit who is responsible for investigating narcotic and gambling offenses, prostitution, liquor law violations, and performing other covert operations. The members of the unit work in conjunction with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Since the inception of the unit in 1996, the unit has been responsible for arresting thousands of drug traffickers and seizing millions of dollars in illegal assets and other proceeds. The illegal proceeds that are seized are used to purchase capital equipment for the Public Safety Department such as police vehicles, weapons, ballistic vests, ammunition, K-9 expenses, and other pertinent equipment. This reduces the burden on our taxpayers since the public safety budget over the years has been significantly reduced.
