The 39th District Court Probation Department is responsible for the supervision of offenders placed on probation at sentencing, conducting of pre-sentence investigations, substance abuse screenings and testifying in court on probation violations among providing other services.  While under the supervision of the Probation Department, the misdemeanor offenders are responsible for complying with the conditions imposed by the Court by following through with referrals to the appropriate educational programs or treatment facilities as necessary.  Every effort is made by Probation Officers to assist offenders in complying with the conditions set forth by the Court.  If offenders fail to comply with conditions, the offenders are returned to Court for a violation hearing.  A violation of probation can result in any number of sanctions including incarceration.  The department uses a variety of programs, both county-operated and privately owned to guide clients through the probationary period.
