
The Department of Public Works provides an array of services throughout the year to both the residents and members of Fraser's business community.
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining 73 miles of water main, 63 miles of sanitary sewer, 1,376 sanitary manholes, 74 miles of storm sewers, 1,370 storm sewer manholes and 2,066 catch basins, 8 pump stations, 779 fire hydrants and 556 gate wells
- 24/7 on call water main repair
- Vactoring and jetting of sanitary and storm sewers
- Inspection of infrastructure including water, sewer, pavement of streets cement sidewalks and approaches
- Maintain 9 parks and all out buildings in the parks, playground equipment, pavilions, walking paths, ice rink, and prepping baseball diamonds
- Snow plowing and salting of City streets and City owned buildings
- Maintenance and renovation of City owned buildings
- Street maintenance including replacement of pavement, curb replacement and street sweeping
- Fleet maintenance for Police, Fire, DPW, Parks and Senior Busses
- Brush pickup
- Removal of dead and/or diseased trees in the City right of way
- Joint sealing of streets
- Install, repair and read water meters including remote system meters
- Curb side leaf pickup (October thru December)
- Installation and repairing of street signs
- Notify Detroit Edison of any street lights that are burnt out or working improperly
- Overseeing waste and recycling contractor
